The location
The Kato Vasiliki area and the nearby villages , located southeast of the county Aitoloakarnanias.The natural boundaries consist west and north of the River Evinos or Feidari and east of the bay
Kalamaki and Mount Klokova.The Kato Vasiliki area also encompasses the Varasova mountain and the south ridge of the Arakynthos mountain. Also have three bays, Kalamaki, the Kato vasiliki bay and Krioneri bay which are three of the most beautiful beaches of the county and part of Delta of the Evinos river. The area located on the main highway Antirio - Ioannina is 25 kilometers from Nafpaktos , 30 Km from the biggest city of Patras and 26 of the capital of the prefecture Messolonghi.
All the villages around Kato Vasiliki mostly have developed agriculture, animal husbandry, fishing and tourism.Its an area that combines mountain with sea and river Evinos a wetland habitat of rare bird species that makes life source for the flora and fauna of the area.
Kato Vasiliki has to present and archaeological sites are in Mount Varasova theoretically the second Mount Athos because of evidence found that during the Byzantine period were mountain 72 churches, monasteries and askitiria.Today there are many ruins of them monuments still preserved Saint Dimitrios at Kato Vasiliki and the Virgin Panaxiotissa in Gavrolimni.
In Kato Vasiliki after excavations by the archaeological team at the University of Ioannina has exposed an organized ascetic place.
Local tradition has preserved the place name 'Saint Nicholas'' and the religious consciousness of the inhabitants of the surrounding villages maintained the sanctity of the site in the shape of a stone-built altar-iconostasis in the cave.
Also the coastal hill east of the village is preserved an ancient walled city.
In a secluded location that contrasts with the adjacent steep mountain Varasova among pines, olives and kyparissia.Around of the city there where walls , were some parts still exist.
On the other side of the mountain you find Krioneri a picturesque place under the huge volume of Varasova renowned for good fish.
The Varasova from this side is known as the most difficult climbing parts.
On the mountain there are goats that enchant gazing acrobatics that make up the rocks.

Nafpaktos is a particularly beautiful town of 10,000 inhabitants built in the shape of an amphitheater on a pine-clad slope. Known since the ancient times, Nafpaktos was the port and the military center of the Aetolian Confederacy. Due to its strategic position, it has often been the apple of discord among its conquerors. Nafpaktos is also known for the famous sea battle, during which the Turkish fleet was destroyed by the unified European forces (in October 1571).

Messolonghi is the capital of the prefecture of Aetoloakarnania and has approximately 13,000 inhabitants. It is built between the lagoon of Messolonghi and the one of Kleisova at the estuary of Evinos and Acheloos river.
At Mesologi you can find fresh , good quality fish, every day in the most low prices of the market
.[ tsipoura, kefalopoula, lavrakia, xelia are the local fishes[ you must taste them !!!!]
Also in vasiliki you can find from the fishermen fresh fish at the mornings.
Also, nearest Airport is the international Actio Airport[ near Preveza] , where you can book your rental car. At the airport every day arrives flights from Italy and all Europe.
In case you want to visit Kefalonia island , the nearest route, is one houre driving to the port of Astakos, where you can take the ferry which sails directly to Sami !!
